# Get IPNS address without uploading a file

How can I get the IPNS address before uploading any file?  
The reason I want this is that I want to check whether any “proper” information is already stored at that IPNS address, and if there is, then I retrieve it, else I replace it with another information.

I am using js-ipfs.
