After the [successful release of Kubo](https://discuss.ipfs.tech/t/ubuntu-ppa-for-kubo-is-now-revived/18331/) on the unofficial Ubuntu PPA, the [Debian packaging repository](https://github.com/twdragon/ipfs-debian-pkg) for Kubo was transformed into a multiproject packaging pipeline and also linked with the PPA, which is now dedicated to generalized **IPFS** projects:

Now the [`libp2p-relay-daemon`](https://github.com/libp2p/go-libp2p-relay-daemon) is also available on this PPA!

## Installation of the `libp2p-relay` package from PPA

### Latest Ubuntu (\>= 20.04 LTS)

```sh
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:twdragon/ipfs
sudo apt update
sudo apt install libp2p-relay
```

### Any Ubuntu version

```sh
sudo su
echo 'deb https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/twdragon/ipfs/ubuntu <<DISTRO>> main' >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ipfs
echo 'deb-src https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/twdragon/ipfs/ubuntu <<DISTRO>> main' >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ipfs
exit
sudo apt update
sudo apt install libp2p-relay
```

where `<<DISTRO>>` is the codename of your Ubuntu distribution (for example, `jammy` for 22.04 LTS).

**NOTE** : this method also may work with any compatible Debian-based distro with `libc6` inside, `systemd`, and APT as a package manager.

## Roadmap

The dedicated Pull request is created:

> <https://github.com/libp2p/go-libp2p-relay-daemon/pull/48>
>
> \- Added unofficial Ubuntu PPA installation instructions. The Debian packaging pi…peline development lives \[here\](https://github.com/twdragon/ipfs-debian-pkg). The PPA homepage: https://launchpad.net/~twdragon/+archive/ubuntu/ipfs
> \- Minor fixes on README

The next step in the roadmap is to provide a CI pipeline for the automated production of the PPA-compatible source packages for both [Kubo](https://github.com/ipfs/kubo) and the [daemon](https://github.com/libp2p/go-libp2p-relay-daemon).

**Any contribution is strongly encouraged!**
