# Update error from ipfs v0.12 -\> v0.14 using ipfs-update

I get an error when executing the command line : “ipfs-update install latest”  
`ERROR: install failed: could not move old binary: remove /usr/local/bin/ipfs: permission denied`  
System: ubuntu server  
current ipfs version : 0.12  
ipfs-update version: 0.18

Try `sudo ipfs-update install latest`
