About “long term”, ~10 years. The main reference-project of digital preservation of scientific articles (JATS + PDF official preservation) in nowadays is, perhaps, the LOCKSS project… We need similar solution, but with less-centralized governance, modern technology and (mainlly) lower cost.
We see that IPFS-cluster is perhaps part of the “replace LOCKSS” solution, but we see it as “only technology”, not the complete infrastructure + business model, for trust in it the next 10 years.
If I do not want to trust the Filecoin, there are another way to replace our investments in LOCKSS by investments in IPFS?
