Hello everyone,
Infura is shutting down its IPFS service, with two important dates approaching:
-
August 3, 2026: New uploads and pinning will be disabled
-
August 15, 2026: Infura’s IPFS API and dedicated gateways will be shut down
Filebase provides a built-in Infura import option for moving pinned content into a new IPFS bucket. The workflow is:
-
Create an IPFS bucket in Filebase
-
Select Infura as the import source
-
Enter your Infura Project ID and Project Secret
-
Create the bucket and allow the import to run
-
Confirm that important CIDs show a Pinned status
The importer reads the pinned CID list, retrieves the corresponding content from the IPFS network, and re-pins it through Filebase. CIDs remain unchanged, but applications using Infura API or gateway endpoints must be updated separately.
We recommend beginning well before August 15 so there is time for content retrieval, pinning, verification, and application testing. Once Infura’s API and gateways are offline, this migration path may no longer work, and content unavailable from other peers may not be recoverable.
