we are currently using the S3 plugin (GitHub - ipfs/go-ds-s3: An s3 datastore implementation). Unfortunately we noticed that the development has been stalled for one year. The plugin is always bound to a specific Kubo version. So we can not install the latest version of IPFS Kubo anymore.
What are the future plans for S3 support in Kubo? Might it get integrated into Kubo itself? Or … what would be an alternative to S3 to support large datastores?
There are instructions to bundle the plugin with kubo, or you can build it yourself.
In the next few days I will make a new release (I probably wait for kubo 0.39 to be released) though. The thing is, we (maintainers/IPShipyard) don’t use this plugin and no one is stepping up either to throw some money for it’s maintenance or taking over it, so this is why it is “stalled”.
