We’ve just released IPFS Desktop v0.46.2, which includes a critical fix for Windows auto-updates.
Windows Users: Action Required
You need to manually update to v0.46.2 once.
After this one-time manual update, auto-updates will work properly again.
What Happened?
The Windows auto-updater was rejecting v0.46.1 due to a certificate mismatch. The Azure code signing certificate uses CN="Protocol Labs, Inc" but the configuration was expecting "IPFS Project". This mismatch prevented automatic updates from working correctly.
The Fix
v0.46.2 updates the publisher name configuration to match the certificate, resolving the auto-update issue. This is a one-time manual update - once you’re on v0.46.2, future updates will install automatically as expected.
How to Update
- Download the latest installer from the GitHub releases page
- Run the installer to update your IPFS Desktop
- That’s it! Auto-updates will work normally going forward
