🌌 IPFS Measurement Report - 2023 Week 22 - 2023-05-29

We have created a new IPFS measurement report for calendar week 20 in 2023 from 2023-05-22 to 2023-06-05 . You can find it here:

Notable things:

• Over 60% of all constantly online peers are in the US, followed by ~10% in Germany, and ~4% in Canada
• Over 50% of all constantly online peers run in either Choopa or Vultr data centers

Some more notable observations:

• The network has stabilised to ~26k online nodes, up from less than 20k a couple of weeks ago: network-measurements/reports/2023/calendar-week-20/ipfs at master · protocol/network-measurements · GitHub
• In turn, this means that the vast majority of nodes that joined the last couple of weeks (approximately 6-7k nodes) are nodes that stay online.
• I’m wondering why tldr.filecoin.io is seeing so rapid responses through kubo (in the order of a few milliseconds): network-measurements/reports/2023/calendar-week-22/ipfs at master · protocol/network-measurements · GitHub. I suspect it would be that a permanently connected node that is in very close proximity is sending the content over bitswap.
• It’s interesting to see that there are no more fetch errors for docs.libp2p.io after it was pinned to the permanent providers: network-measurements/reports/2023/calendar-week-22/ipfs at master · protocol/network-measurements · GitHub. It’s also interesting to see that the error rate of quite a few other websites has gone up this week, compared to previous ones (?).
