Questions re. General Model & Direction

I’m looking at using IPFS as a large scale storage platform - analogous to the model developed by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation for running docker images across a hybrid could environment, or more recently running a WASMcloud. (And Bacalhau puts the two together - a platform for deploying processes “to the cloud.”) More generally, it’s become common to run a hybrid cloud to support enterprise services.

But… we don’t seem to be there for file systems. The folks at Fission were moving in that direction with WNFS, and ODD - but they are no more. Which leads me to ask, where are we in being able to:

  • mount IPFS/IPNS as a directory, Unix FS style (e.g, the way one would mount a file system via WebDAV) - complete with ACLs & Encryption based on UCANs
  • use IPFS cluster to connect to multiple pinning services that support filecoin storage deals

Basically how close are we to a multi-cloud storage environment that’s industrial strength?

You could’ve just keept posting in IPFS as an enterprise file system? - #2 by markg85, no?
