IPFS Companion says offline

My IPFS Companion says offline and I cannot turn it on.
On the status page I am connected and have many peers.
I have the IPFS desktop app installed also.
Thank you.
Does anyone know where I can find help or tutorial?

You can turn Companion on and off via the “power” button. If it does not help, make sure the “RPC” URL is correct and the port (5001) matches port from your IPFS Desktop node. If it is correct, and your IPFS Desktop is online, it is possible some software is blocking access to the local port.

You can access Companion settings via :gear: icon, it allows adjusting RPC URL.

Hello lidel, thank you for your reply.
The port matches everywhere. There must be software blocking access.
I decided to use just IPFS Desktop and removed the Companion from Brave.
Thank you again.

Were you using embedded IPFS node form Brave before, or always used separate one provided by IPFS Desktop?

If you used Brave, Companion tried to use node from Brave and not Desktop. In Brave, the RPC port was different (45001) than IPFS Desktop (5001), so double check Node Type and RPC Port point at your Desktop:

Not sure if relevant, but if you had data stuck in Brave node, there is some additional migration info at:

Hello lidel, thank you for helping me.
I was not using a Brave node before, just the one on IPFS Desktop.
I checked and it is 5001.
I will check out the guide you sent.
Have a nice day/evening.
